The goal of this dissertation is to describe these differences to establish that it is a distinct variety because of these unusual sound patterns spoken by its speakers at the present times and to propose a comparative synchronic account of all these phenomena.
The Nalbaria dialect of Assamese exhibits unique and strikingly different phonological patterns in respect of syllabification, stress assignment, segmental distribution and segmental processes as well as vowel harmony from the standard variety and also from other dialects of the language.
